But the most important question here is does drinking a lot of water help you lose weight?

If you stop drinking water, within one or two days you experience swallowing difficulties, muscle spasms, and severe nausea.  If the thirst continues bowel movement stops, blood stops flowing to the skin and brain function disorder (delusions) begin to appear. Drinking a glass of water before every meal will help you in getting up from the table taking fewer calories. However, water does not stay too long in your stomach and gets removed from the body in the form of urine and sweat. You can prevent this situation by drinking 2-3 glasses of water between meals.

This might not have a direct impact on weight loss but each and every calorie burnt will be in your benefit.

How Much Water Should You Drink?
Some experts say 8 glasses a day, some say at least 2 liters but there is no clear figure on how much water should you drink. Because the requirement of the water varies according to physical activity of the body. In addition temperature, environment and excessive sweating can increase the need for water.

You can assess whether your body has enough amount of water or not by the color of your urine. In short, the lighter the color of your urine is the better it is. If the urine color is darker it means you do not have enough amount of water in your body.

If you exercise, you should drink water before, during and after the exercise. You may drink half a cup of water if you do not want to feel your stomach full before exercise.

How to Drink More Water?
After getting up in the morning and before each meal make it a habit to drink one large glass of water. Replace sweetened beverages with water. If you have the habit of drinking Coke or packaged juice try to replace them with water. In this way not only you will prevent taking a lot of chemicals in your body but also you will get 0 calories.

Making it a habit to carry a small bottle of water with you at home or at work can help you in consuming more water.

Thirst means your body is dehydrated. Drinking water at frequent intervals rather than waiting for thirst is always more beneficial for your body.

Sweetening the water can help you in drinking more water. You can add a piece of lemon, orange or apple to sweeten it.
