After 3-5 days brain stops functioning and so does the organs.

So, Water that is one of the most important parts of our life. The short answer to the question “Does drinking a lot of water help you lose weight?” is YES! That means you cannot lose weight by drinking water only and without reducing the number of calories you are supposed to take per day. But it is a very healthy support to your diet with 0 calories.

How does drinking a lot of water help you lose weight?
Drinking water is sometimes mixed with drinking Juice, Tea, soup and other liquid consumptions. But all drinks except water contains acid or food chemicals that you would never want to consume. So try to consume water instead of these types of drinks to meet the needs of water in your body. Here is how drinking water helps you lose weight.

Water Reduces Appetite and Makes You Feel Full
Drinking a glass of water before every meal will help you in getting up from the table taking fewer calories. Water fills your stomach, makes you feel full for a longer period of time and reduces your appetite until the next meal. However, water does not stay too long in your stomach and gets removed from the body in the form of urine and sweat. You can prevent this situation by drinking 2-3 glasses of water between meals.

Water Helps You Reduce Snacks
Sometimes it happens that you want to eat something (especially late in the night) but you can’t decide what to eat. In such a situation nutritionists suggest us to drink one large glass of water instead of eating something. So when you are hungry and you need to eat something, drinking water and waiting for almost 10 minutes will definitely reduce your appetite. In this way, water helps you reduce snacks that causes you to intake extra calories.

Water Helps in Digestion
Drinking water after the dinner helps the digestion system in fragmentation of food. At the same time, it softens the stool in the intestine which prevents constipation problems that dieters experience frequently. If you do not drink enough amount of water the intestines uses the water from the stool and solidifies it which may lead to constipation. Therefore drinking more water eventually help you in digesting the food and avoid constipation.

Water Increases Your Energy
Water itself does not provide energy but dehydration may decrease your energy. This is because of shrinkage of the electrolytes in the cells due to loss of liquid in the body. Muscle cells do not get enough amount of fluid and Muscle fatigue is experienced which makes you feel sluggish. Also, you should drink more water to maintain and increase your energy if you exercise regularly.

Water Accelerates Metabolism
When you drink cold water your metabolism spends extra energy to bring the temperature of the water to body temperature and calories are burnt during the process. 10 minutes after you drink cold water metabolism starts accelerating and reaches its peak after about 30-40 minutes. This might not have a direct impact on weight loss but each and every calorie burnt will be in your benefit.

How Much Water Should You Drink?
Some experts say 8 glasses a day, some say at least 2 liters but there is no clear figure on how much water should you drink. Because the requirement of the water varies according to physical activity of the body. In addition temperature, environment and excessive sweating can increase the need for water.

You can assess whether your body has enough amount of water or not by the color of your urine. In short, the lighter the color of your urine is the better it is. If the urine color is darker it means you do not have enough amount of water in your body.

If you exercise, you should drink water before, during and after the exercise. You may drink half a cup of water if you do not want to feel your stomach full before exercise.
